The Mercury Flow in Sweden
This flowchart was attached to a commission report from the (Swedish) National Institute for Working Life (NIWL). It provides a good view of from where mercury comes, how it is used, and where it goes. In the report, authored by Ingvar Skare, is said "It should be a difficult task to explain to the public why mercury in amalgam on the one hand is appropriate as a tooth filling material, while it on the other hand is so dangerous, that you have to place it in sealed mining holes several hundred feet underground."
